A Connection of minds between 2 artists.
Early this year I found Erika Guillory Pages Instagram profile. I adore her work and instantly reached out to express my love for her abstract expressive art.
Since that day I have the opportunity to work towards a collaborative project with Erika, I love abstract art & I adore print design. Within this collaborative project we are able to combine both elements and create some masterful pieces.
When designing clothing I usually work backwards by playing with weights of fabrics on the mannequin. I tend to hold each weight and cut into the fabrics to create form and drapery. I find this the most organic way for me to work in. I always make mistakes which prove to be the main focal point of my designs. In a good way! Its like the subconscious mind wants to express itself through the pure beauty of Wabi-sabi.
With this collaborative project I am working with the abstract oil paintings of Erikas. We are using a sublimation printing process on Crepe De Chine Fabric. The essence of the designs will primarily be inspired by the abstract flow of the art work ' Song of Calm'
From this we will use contrasting colours in Linens/ Cottons & Georgette fabrics to create more depth within each piece. We want to create free floating, organic womenswear that speaks to people through the movement and colour therapy of each design.
